Music composer, multimedia designer, and related disciplines
In 2012 Rutger Muller graduated as an MA in Music Technology at the Utrecht School of the
Arts. He now works as a composer and sound designer, specialising in the crossover of electronic (club) music and ancient (classical) music. One of his projects is the ‘Von Nohrfeldt Ensemble’ (www.VonNohrfeldt.com
), in which he works together with three classically trained avant-garde musicians. In December 2014 the ensemble played at Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ. This show was also developed together with the Amsterdam based LED-visuals company Naïvi (www.naivi.nl
). Rutger also worked with game designers, for example on the installation ‘Thresholder’, in which a group of 10 people can explore their social boundaries by controlling sound and animation.
Becides making music, Rutger has an interest in writing (see for example music reviews at www.bachtrack.com/22/270/list-published/748
), web design (see www.RutgerMuller.nl
and most of his projects linked there). And he is developing a bar to connect people through the beauty of vintage computers (see www.facebook.com/8bitlovestory
), with the first prototype room already built in Amsterdam North broedplaats A Lab.
At Bookstore Rutger aims to utilize the strengths that he also brings forward with his music and artworks: multi-disciplinarian, multi-cultural, clear and social communication (whether it is personal contact, written text or web design). Rutger sees a wide variety of opportunities related to the Bookstore gallery, swap shop The Novel and community/performance space Homeland.
