Visual artist/ curator/ art educator (MA)
Born in Kraków, Poland in 1988, Dobrawa Bies grow up in artistic environment. She finished
High School of Arts in Kraków (2008), than received BFA from Jan Matejko Academy of Fine
Arts in Kraków (2013). In 2015 she received MA at the same Academy, with specialization
fine arts education. Since October 2015 Dobrawa is living in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She
came for internship in art gallery Kulter, and she decided to stay. Dobrawa Bies mainly
specializes in graphics techniques - linocuts and monotypes. She explores self- portrait,
abstract, city and landscape subjects.
She exhibited works at several solo and collective exhibitions in Poland, and Netherlands.
Her studies were centered on art education and curating, in past years she made many
internships in galleries and museums: Kraków: Manggha Japan Art and Technology Museum
(2013 -2015) Bunkier Sztuki (2014) Zakopane: BWA (2014), Amsterdam: Kulter (2015).
Dobrawa is also author of the art book "Sztuka to...". Besides of making art, Dobrawa writes
audio descriptions of art works, for DeFacto organization, and creates art workshops.
Dobrawa came to Bookstore Project in October 2015, since that time she is helping with
many activities. At the beginning she was working in Bookstore Space gallery, than in Novel,
and breadshifts. She aslo helps with other ongoing projects.
