BOOKSTORE SOLO// VSEVOLOD KOVALEVSKIJ
These drawings are a documentation of a trip in which I took my life back into my hands. Though the drawings may seem independent and individual, because they are the reflection of one particular and original moment, they all share a leitmotif - my story.
Vsevolod Kovalevskij Born 1988, is Lithuania-based artist with a technically and thematically diverse practice. Not a stranger to social criticism and autobiographical themes, Vsevolod is best known for his experimental pieces, in which he rethinks space-time relations through the essence of media. In these works, different kinds of media are transformed and mediated into a state of aesthetic representations, conceptual paradoxes, process-based and site-specific installations. Vsevolod's portfolio, however diverse, is very continous and recognisable. His extraordinary subtleness allows him to approach different topics with a certain minimalistic, refined aesthetic that is both conceptual and neo-conceptual at the same time. As a mediator, Vsevolod has experimented with different kinds of materials to try and establish a relationship with the spectator, who often becomes a participant and gets involved in the connections between the artist, the audience and members of the community. Positioning himself as a tool, not a creator, Vsevolod manages to juggle topics that separate reality from realness.
